The main priority of the Company is to ensure the ecological and economic balance between production and environmental safety and continuous improvement of indicators based on key principles:

  • Compliance with the environmental legislation of the Russian Federation and countries of presence;
  • The application of mainly preventive measures to prevent damage to the ecological environment;
  • Application of progressive methods and technologies for ensuring environmental safety and rational nature management;
  • Interaction with all interested parties and development of joint program actions;
  • Informational openness.

In its activities, TATNEFT adheres to the 15th precautionary principle of the UN Declaration on Environment and Development, adopted in Rio de Janeiro on June 3-4, 1992.

Work in the field of ecology is one of the main priorities of Tatneft. Since 1990, the company has consistently implemented long-term environmental protection programs in its regions of activity aimed at ensuring industrial and environmental safety, improving the environment and improving the environmental quality of life of the population.

In 2016, Tatneft adopted a new Environmental Strategy of the Company and the fourth Environmental Program for the period up to 2020.

In general, environmental protection activities in the Company are implemented in accordance with consistently formed environmental protection programs. Since 2016, the fourth Environmental Program of the Company has been in operation, developed for the period up to 2020 in order to maintain the state of the environment of the Company’s region of operation at a regulatory level that corresponds to the potential for self-restoration of natural ecosystems.

This program ensures the continuity of the Company's environmental and industrial safety policy.

Certified in 2006, the integrated management system of industrial safety, labor protection and environment of PJSC TATNEFT in 2017 successfully passed another surveillance audit for compliance with international standards ISO 14001: 2004
OHSAS 18001: 2007.

According to the ISO 14001: 2004 standard, for compliance with which the environmental management system of PJSC TATNEFT is certified, the Company uses the methodology of “sequential procedures”, in which follow-up actions are formed based on the data obtained from the results of the previous level procedure.

MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION CONTROL

THE SYSTEM OF PRODUCTION ECOLOGICAL CONTROL (PEC) OF THE COMPANY IS IMPLEMENTED IN THE FOLLOWING MAIN DIRECTIONS:
  • Measurements and measurements related to environmental protection;
  • Maintaining a database of sources of exposure and the state of the environment, processing and analyzing the information received;
  • Determination of compliance with environmental requirements of sources of exposure;
  • Analysis and forecast of the state of the environment in the regions of activity;
  • The development of an industrial environmental system  control in new areas of activity.
The Сompany provides the following controls:
  • Control of sources of environmental impact (emissions and discharges of pollutants, wastewater);
  • Monitoring the state of environmental components (air, surface and groundwater, land and soil soils, the geological environment);
  • Two-level inspection control of compliance with environmental legislation requirements.

The scientific and methodological support of the Company's environmental activities is carried out by the TatNIPIneft Institute, as well as a number of other research organizations and universities of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation.

MEASURES FOR ENSURING ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY

In 2017, PJSC TATNEFT continued to pursue systematic work in the area of ​​improving the environmental safety of oil production processes.

Special attention in the environmental protection activity of PJSC TATNEFT is paid to reducing emissions of harmful substances into the air, pollutant discharges to groundwater and surface water bodies, soil, and also compliance with the established standards for permissible environmental impact. First of all, this is ensured by maintaining the technical condition of oilfield equipment at an appropriate level, by introducing modern and innovative environmental protection technologies:

  • Implementation of the technology for capturing light hydrocarbon fractions (FDA);
  • Decrease in the volume of associated petroleum gas flared;
  • Purification of associated petroleum gas in desulfurization plants;
  • Repair and replacement of tanks, anti-corrosion coatings on them and the use of electrochemical protection;
  • Capital repairs of oil pipelines and gas pipelines;
  • Construction of storm sewers at industrial sites for the collection and disposal of wastewater and other measures.

Tatneft conducts an ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE EVALUATION BASED ON COMPLEX EVALUATION of the following INDICATORS:

  • The timeliness of updating the lists of environmental aspects;
  • The degree of implementation of environmental goals and objectives;
  • The level of compliance of the content of pollutants in emissions (discharges) standards;
  • The level of compliance with the amount of waste generated limits;
  • The number or intensity of complaints from the public;
  • The degree of elimination of violations of environmental legislation.

The Company interacts with all interested parties on environmental impact issues and responsibly treats all incoming complaints and complaints, including those received through the Hotline channel, as well as in the form of written requests, conducting an appropriate analysis of such complaints and ensures timely elimination violations in case of their detection. In 2017, 14 environmental complaints were filed and processed through official mechanisms to the Company. Each complaint was analyzed and necessary measures were taken in accordance with the revealed facts.
