THE YEAR OF 2017 IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION IS THE YEAR OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND PROTECTION OF CONSERVATION AREAS. IN THE REPUBLIC OF TATARSTAN, THE YEAR OF 2017 IS THE YEAR OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND PUBLIC SPACES.
The Company cooperates with territorial bodies of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor), the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Center for Legal Support of Natural Resources "Ekoyurs", local executive authorities.
As part of the formation of public and environmental acceptability of the Company's activities, a set of measures are taken: public inspections of the activities of the Group's enterprises, familiarization tours for members of the public, participation of the Company and the Group's enterprises in environmentally-oriented events at the local, national and federal levels (conferences, seminars).
TATNEFT SIGNED A QUADRIPARTITE AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION, THE FEDERAL SERVICE FOR SUPERVISION OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF TATARSTAN. ALSO THE COMPANY SIGNED A LIST OF ENVIRONMENTAL MEASURES PLANNED WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE YEAR OF ENVIRONMENT IN RUSSIA IN 2017
The initiative to conclude such Agreement with large companies in order to implement the presidential decree on the Year of Environment and to solve environmental development issues in the Russian Federation belongs to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation and Rosprirodnadzor. All enterprises, institutions and organizations are called upon to contribute to the solution of environmental issues, to the improvement of the environmental conditions and environmental safety of the country. By signing this document, Tatneft committed itself to take environmental measures at its own expense and to quarterly report on their implementation to Rosprirodnadzor
The List of Environmental Measures includes the largest and most significant projects of the Company's structural units. Among them: construction of the gas-gathering system of facilities of NGDU (Oil and Gas Production Department) Yamashneft and NGDU Elkhovneft, 42 km long, aimed at increasing the level of effective use of associated petroleum gas; technical re-equipment of the heat supply system of the Kuakbash high-sulfur oil treatment plant of NGDU Leninogorskneft, which will ensure an increase in energy saving and a decrease in emissions into the air. The light hydrocarbon-handling system was replaced at the preliminary water discharge unit in the oil processing and pumping shop of NGDU Bavlyneft.
Significant investments are made to equip producing wells of Oil and Gas Production Departments with the system of collecting storm water from wellhead area, which will prevent the contamination of surface and underground water bodies and prevent the ingress of storm water and process liquid into the land.
The Oil and Gas Production Departments of the Company provide for the technical re-equipment of flare units to ensure the sootless (smokeless) gas combustion during scheduled preventive repairs at the gas processing plant of Tatneftegazpererabotka Department. The List also includes measures to modernize a number of facilities of Tatneftegazpererabotka Department, including the technical re-equipment of the plant's water recycling system, which will allow more efficient and rational use of primary water resources; the construction of modular treatment facilities for this system.
The implementation of these and other planned activities will minimize the impact of technogenic factors on the nature, improve the state of the environment in the territory of Tatneft.
PUBLIC RECOGNITION — ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS OF PJSC TATNEFT
In 2017, the results of federal and national competitions were summed up, in which PJSC Tatneft took part, reflecting its achievements in the field of environmental safety.
- • On June 5, in the framework of the Environmentalist's Day, the Non-Governmental Environmental Fund named after V. I. Vernadsky presented to PJSC Tatneft an award «For Active Participation in the All-Russian Ecological Cleanup "Green Spring 2017" and for Special Contribution to Environmental Improvement and Environmental Education», • On June 5, in the framework of the Environmentalist's Day, the Non-Governmental Environmental Fund named after V. I. Vernadsky presented to PJSC Tatneft an award;
- • for the 14th time in a row Tatneft was recognized as "ECOleader" in the Republic of Tatarstan.
Tatneft was awarded high prizes in the international competition "Environmental Culture. Peace and Harmony" and the All-Russian Ecological Cleanup "Green Spring 2017".
The Company became a winner in the nomination "Environmental Culture in Industry and Energy" for the project "Development of Regional Environmental Quality Standards (Soil Quality): Permissible Residual Content of Oil and its Transformation Products in Soils of the Republic of Tatarstan after Agricultural Land Reclamation and other Restoration Works". In the international competition, in seven nominations, there participated projects and products that bring practical benefits in the formation of environmental culture of the citizens of our country.
The solemn ceremony of awarding the winners was held in the building of the Executive Office of the President of Russia in Moscow. The event dedicated to the Environmentalist's Day and the World Environment Day was held by the Non-Governmental Environmental Fund named after V. I. Vernadsky with the support of the Executive Office of the President of the Russian Federation, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the State Duma Committee for Ecology and Environment Protection, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, the Russian Geographical Society, and several public environmental organizations.
The winners of the All-Russian Ecological Cleanup "Green Spring 2017" were also awarded on this day. Tatneft was awarded "For Active Participation in the All-Russian Ecological Cleanup "Green Spring 2017" and for Initiative and Special Contribution to Environmental Protection".
TATNEFT WAS RECOGNIZED AS AN ABSOLUTE WINNER OF THE REPUBLICAN COMPETITION "ECOLEADER". TANECO COMPLEX WAS AWARDED SECOND PLACE IN THE NOMINATION "OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY"
The solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the competition "ECOleader" was held in Kazan. The event was attended by heads of the largest companies of the Republic, heads of municipal districts, media representatives.
Awards received by Tatneft and TANECO once again confirmed the high efficiency of environmental measures taken by the Company in its activities. The environmental measures of the Company are taken in accordance with the requirements of federal laws in the field of environmental protection and meets all applicable environmental regulations and rules.
JUNE 2017: VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION SERGEY DONSKOY TO THE COMPANY'S PRODUCTION FACILITIES LOCATED IN NIZHNEKAMSK
The Minister was accompanied by Head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation Artem Sidorov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Nigmatullin, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev, Head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Farit Khairutdinov, General Director of Tatneft Nail Maganov, mayor of Nizhnekamsk Aidar Metshin, and representatives of federal and republican ministries and departments.
The guests visited the Nizhnekamsk tire plant, where they got acquainted with the process of production of solid metal cord tires, the formulation of rubber compounds based on natural rubber, and the process of their manufacturing in the stock-preparation shop. Also, the guests visited TANECO Complex of Oil Refineries and Petrochemical Plants, where they got acquainted with existing facilities: crude distillation unit ELOU-AVT-7, delayed coking unit, hydrocracking unit, flare unit, sulfur recovery unit, treatment facilities, as well as facilities under construction: hydroconversion unit, hydrotreating unit, isomerization unit, ELOU-AVT-6. The visitors received information on the concept of advanced oil refining, assessed the environmental compatibility of the project and modern environmental and resource-saving technologies used in the Oil Refining Complex.

OCTOBER 2017: TANECO COMPLEX WAS VISITED BY DELEGATION OF HEADS AND SPECIALISTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES OF PJSC LUKOIL
The purpose of the visit of the delegation of LUKOIL specialists led by the Head of the Department of Industrial Safety, Environment and Scientific and Technical Works Igor Zaikin was to get acquainted with the environmental facilities of the Complex of Oil Refineries and Petrochemical Plants, and to discuss environmental safety issues. The interest of industry colleagues in TANECO is associated with the use of the most modern technologies during its construction and operation that provide a high level of environmental safety of the new plant. As a successful application of best available technology, the guests were presented with combined hydrocracking unit, delayed coking unit, flare units, plant treatment facilities, industrial waste landfill.
In the central operator room, the specialists of LUKOIL got acquainted with the automated process control system. The use of modern digital technologies allows not only to monitor the production process of the enterprise and make adjustments, but also to predict possible failures and prevent situations that can lead to adverse consequences.
ON 12 OCTOBER, ON THE BASIS OF TANECO COMPLEX OF OIL REFINERIES AND PETROCHEMICAL PLANTS IN NIZHNEKAMSK, AN ENLARGED MEETING OF THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE ON CONDUCTING THE YEAR OF ENVIRONMENT AND PUBLIC SPACES IN THE REPUBLIC OF TATARSTAN WAS HELD
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Aleksey Pesoshin, representatives of federal and republican authorities, public procurator's office, heads of ministries and departments, enterprises and organizations, higher educational institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan, journalists of republican, corporate and local mass media.
TANECO Complex was chosen as a venue of the forum not by chance. Interest in the event is due to the high level of environmental compatibility of the production of the Complex. The visit of the delegation, which included more than a hundred people, began with a visit to the production site of TANECO, where the guests were shown the production facilities, during the design and construction of which the best available technologies (BAT) were used. First of all, these are treatment facilities of the plant, delayed coking unit, combined hydrocracking unit, sulfur recovery unit, loading racks, flare units.
The greatest interest among the participants of the event was caused by the treatment facilities of TANECO.
Within the framework of the special exposition, the participants were shown samples of environmental equipment, automated systems for continuous control of composition and volume of emissions from an organized emission point, flow analyzers for monitoring the content of pollutants in wastewater, sensors and samplers for monitoring emissions, and much more.
At the plenary session, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. Head of Rosprirodnadzor of the Republic of Tatarstan Farit Khairutdinov, Head of Nizhnekamsk municipal district Aidar Metshin, Chief Engineer of JSC TANECO Aidar Khismatullin, First Deputy General Director of PJSC Nizhnekamsneftehim Ilfat Sharifullin, General Director of JSC PO Plant named after Sergo Radik Khasanov also spoke at the meeting.
In the main report, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev outlined the main environmental problems facing the Republic of Tatarstan and gave examples of successful solutions to environmental problems.
The Company's environmental activities in the Oil Refining Complex were awarded a number of awards and nominations: TANECO is a laureate of the contest "National Environmental Award", a multiple winner in nominations of the republican contest "ECOleader", a winner of the all-Russian contest "100 Best Organizations of Russia. Environment and Environmental Management"; a winner of the contest "The Best Environmentally Responsible Enterprise of the Republic of Tatarstan".
In 2017, JSC TANECO took part in the campaign "Disclose Your Accounts in the Year of the Environment!" conducted by Interfax-ERA Environmental and Energy Rating Agency. According to the rating of environmental and energy efficiency of 150 largest companies and 5,500 enterprises of Russia, in 2017, JSC TANECO took 37th position in the general rating of enterprises and the 1st position in its industry group "Energy Transformation and Supply".

The compliance is confirmed on the basis of assessment of the full cycle of tire production and the level of impact of production activities of enterprises on the environment. During the compliance assessment, the audit of documentation, necessary records and general competence and awareness of the personnel of the enterprises was carried out.
